Mat Class is a group session with up to seven individuals. Mat sessions use a series of floor exercises that combine the philosophy of Pilates apparatus work without extensive use of equipment. The mat work is specifically designed to challenge the abdominal, hip, and shoulder muscles as you use your own body (with infrequent use of resistance circles or light weights) to create resistance. Mat work can be learned so that you can work on your own at home, using the Pilates principles that you learned in our studio.
For individuals who are new to exercise, or with back problems, we recommend a few individual sessions before taking a group mat class.
We keep our mat classes small, and require advance sign-up for all mat classes. Please call or email to reserve a space. We provide thick foam mats for adequate protection for your spine. For sanitary reasons, socks are required.
