Led by Audrey Laurelton, the program supports the development of skilled, thoughtful instructors through progressive training, guided mentorship, observation, and supported practice teaching in a collaborative, small cohort environment.

Program Overview
The Comprehensive Classical Pilates Teacher Training Program is designed as a progressive certification pathway through the full classical Pilates system, from beginner to advanced. Trainees move through a structured sequence of mat and apparatus training, observation, practice teaching, and supervised development designed to build both technical understanding and real-world teaching skill.
In addition to those pursuing Pilates instruction as a career path, the program is also well suited for movement professionals, Physical Therapists, and Physical Therapist Assistants seeking deeper training in the classical Pilates system.
What the Program Includes
Trainees learn the classical Pilates system across mat work and apparatus including the Reformer, Cadillac/Tower, Chairs, Barrels, Ped-o-Pul, and Magic Circle. Emphasis is placed on understanding how the full system works together to support a wide range of clients, bodies, and movement needs.

Program Structure
Phase 1 — Comprehensive Beginner & Intermediate Mat
Develop a strong foundation in the classical mat system while learning exercise technique, modification, and foundational teaching principles for first-time, beginner, and intermediate-level clients.
Phase 2 — Comprehensive Teacher Training Level I
Develop fluency across the beginner and first-level intermediate classical Pilates apparatus system through guided instruction, observation, and supported practice teaching.
Phase 3 — Comprehensive Teacher Training Level II
Deepen teaching skills through continued study of the intermediate and advanced classical Pilates system, including advanced work, working with a wide range of client needs and physical conditions, and teaching both individual and mixed-level group sessions.
Upon Completion of the Program
Upon completion of the program, trainees will have developed the skills and practical experience to:
- Teach private, semi-private, mat, tower, and small group Pilates sessions
- Work across the full classical Pilates apparatus system
- Adapt exercises for a wide range of bodies, movement patterns, and physical conditions
- Teach clients across beginner through advanced levels
- Apply observation and critical thinking skills within real teaching environments
- Sit for the NPCP certification exam (formerly PMA certification)
Continuing Education Credits
Select portions of the program are approved for continuing education credits for eligible fitness and healthcare professionals.
Comprehensive Beginner & Intermediate Mat

- Approved for 32 continuing education credits for Physical Therapists and Physical Therapist Assistants
Comprehensive Teacher Training Level I
- Approved for 70 continuing education credits for Physical Therapists and Physical Therapist Assistants

The comprehensive program includes the Beginner & Intermediate Mat Training, Comprehensive Teacher Training Level I, and Comprehensive Teacher Training Level II.
Individual Phase Tuition
- Comprehensive Beginner & Intermediate Mat: $900
- Comprehensive Teacher Training Level I: $2,400 paid in full / $2,500 payment plan
- Comprehensive Teacher Training Level II: $2,400 paid in full / $2,500 payment plan
Individual phases may be taken separately depending on prior training and program availability.
Upcoming Cohort
The next Comprehensive Classical Pilates Teacher Training cohort is anticipated to begin in Fall 2026.
The program is completed over approximately 10 months and typically includes three weekend training days per month in addition to observation, practice teaching, self-study, and class participation requirements.
Cohorts are intentionally kept small to support individualized feedback, mentorship, observation, and practice teaching opportunities.

While the program is designed as a comprehensive certification pathway, individual phases may be taken separately depending on prior training, teaching experience, and program availability.
Teachers with previous mat and/or apparatus training may also be eligible for bridge placement into the Beacon Pilates Comprehensive Classical Pilates Certification program following an interview and review process.

In addition to scheduled training weekends, trainees complete observation hours, practice teaching, self-study, and required class participation throughout the program. Requirements vary by phase and are designed to support the gradual development of teaching skills and confidence.
Can I work while completing the program?
Yes. Many trainees complete the program while balancing work and other professional commitments. The program is structured over approximately 10 months, with training typically occurring three weekend days per month.

While the program is designed as a comprehensive certification pathway, individual phases may be available depending on prior training, teaching experience, and program availability.
What happens after I complete the program?
Upon completion, trainees will have fulfilled the requirements of our 500-hour comprehensive program and will be eligible to sit for the National Pilates Certification Program (NPCP) exam to earn the Nationally Certified Pilates Teacher (NCPT) credential.
